Dangerous

It’s electrifying
But only enough to keep my lights on
To feel it is asking me not to breathe
This love’s suffocation is my only peace.

Swept up in alternate realities
Pulling myself into deep waters
I’m terrified to enjoy it
And the mirror shames me for what I can’t admit.

It’s petrifying
But only enough to freeze me
Embrace or release it, but by all accounts
It’s the kind that’s dangerous from the inside out.
