Dangerous Treasure

I could never see the stars
That the poets wrote about with such fervour
A veil that came from the smoke from your cars
Has blanketed us in a claustrophobic bubble.
A monster lurks among our numbers
He has brought us ease not worth the trouble
His invisible miscreants have awoken from slumber
And they paint the sky with dull colours
They are the legacy of the past creatures
And humanity exploits terribly their dangerous treasure
