Dangers of the Sun

All I wanted was the sun,
To destroy the shadows, illuminating the truth.
But it is the sun,
Who lets the darkness creep in.
The face of the closest star,
Warms the earth and feeds the plants.
Unworthy eyes are blinded,
Fragile flesh is blistered.
To know the sun,
Is to be unsafe.
Wearing sun block is precautionary,
But useless against assault.
For those who are seen, wanted, and abducted,
I pray you are returned to the freedom of the light.
