Darkness

There were two parents in a home
With six kids who felt alone.
One turned to the bottle,
One to the knife.
Tell me now, is this any way to live a life?

One by one all the kids fell.
They wanted peace but were met by the yell
Of a drunken man who couldn't open his eyes
To see that he was living a world full of lies.

Although the light is so tempting
With its beautiful grace,
The children are doomed to live in darkness
For the rest of their days.
