Date Rape

Sometimes I wonder what people would say
If I told them the truth.
The truth where I was held against my will,
Not consenting - never checking if what he was doing
Was what I had wanted too.

Awoken only by the breeze I felt and
the smell of morning dew,
hardly knowing what to do I stumbled from his bed,
& found my dirty clothes in pile on his floor.
I threw on my dress and ran to his door, and
heard him groan and turn over in his sleep once more.

When people ask me why I left Hawaii,
I lie. I get a shiver down my spine,
Ready to say what I've rehearsed so many times.
Money , I sa Too damn far I laugh.

Because if I look you in the eye and tell you why,
it might change the way you see me.
Or worse, you just might not believe me.
