Daughter

Sweet child of innocent ways,
Smiling in the face of a terrifying world,
Dancing in a puddle,
As if to wash the evils away

Forty pounds of love,
Staring at the sky with wonder,
Twirling round and round,
Spinning the twinkling stars above

Eyes like a depthless ocean,
Hair twisted by the blowing breeze,
Never a selfish thought,
Her laughter a curing potion

A single touch erases pain,
Nothing can harm her,
Forever my daughter,
She is sunshine when it rains
