Dawn of Goodbye

So here I stand as the light floods the sky
Knowing that things will not go awry
Yes you'll get the job, and graduate early
And though I might try to impress you by becoming burly
When you move away, we might forever be apart
But I realize this isn't the end, it's simply the start
Though I never figured out, how to truly close my cases
It always leaves me feeling like there are empty spaces
Cracks and crevices, where opportunity could appear
But if it does come knocking, I never do hear
The warning sirens until they blind my hindsight
Letting me know I didn't do what I should have when the time was right
And as I hang my head in this regretful air
I'm convinced I'll never have the chance to show how much I care
Because as I look out at the birds that are about to fly
I know that this uneventful morning is the dawn of goodbye
