Day 30 of Quarantine

What day was it?
was something important happening?
I’ll check my calendar
it’s already day 30 of quarantine?
an unusual day to be had
in years past it was a day filled with celebration
but this year, it was just day 30 of quarantine
a birthday could’ve been, should’ve been better
I was no longer a teen
I turned twenty on day 30 of quarantine
no party and no friends or family to be seen
the yearly visit with my grandma was gone
this was day 30 of quarantine
on this day, I sat alone
instead of gifts I received my notice of unemployment
instead of laughter, came tears
this was the reality of day 30 of quarantine
the area seemed colder and sadder
the streets were empty
and world seemed dark and quiet on day 30 of quarantine
