Day After Day

Day after day she was under attack--
words and the fist of her man--
so why did she keep coming back?

young boy sees this like a broken track
his daddy mad and
day after day they were under attack

wears shades to hide the blue and black
eyes that cry night after night
so why did they keep coming back?

yelling was his childhood soundtrack
seeing pain in his mother so
day after day you're under attack

he's just hurt and loves through a smack
you've left more than once
so why do you keep coming back?

now you've got a kid named Jack
and it's deja vu
day after day we are under attack
so why do we keep coming back?
