Day and Night

The sun came through my blinds
Woke me from my slumber
I treat each day as if it's my last
Because days here are numbered
I greet the morning with opened eyes
I stretch down to my toes
Walking through the brisk air
I see all around what grows
The flowers are in bloom
With mist from morning dew
The clouds are few in the sky
The most beautiful shade of blue
Birds are singing in the trees
Wind sways the oaks' leaves
Everything is as a picture
There is no sorrow or grief
Morning is the beginning
The start of something new
Then there is the evening
To lay down the day with you
The dawn has broken
The light has dimmed
Stars fill the night
As I lay next to him
Crickets are chirping
The breeze becomes cold
We lay under a blanket
With each other to hold
These are the moments
Worth living for
Because being with him
Makes it all so much more
So I shut my eyes
And dream of tomorrow
Loving him each day
And all that will follow.
