Dear Black Woman

Dear Black woman,
Do not tread lightly in this world,
for your power is great and queenly.
Should you ever find yourself struck with hopelessness
remember that your ancestors are all around you""
in the fullest moon;
in the swelling tide;
in the blowing wind;
in the approaching spring;
in your salty tears;
in your mother's aunt's sister's daughter's hearty laugh;
in the kind faces, smiles, and lingering eyes of strangers.
You are never alone, my dear Black woman,
for Black and womanly love surrounds us all.
