Dear Father

My heart now beats heavy, tears brand disbelief
Your passing, leaves with me unbearable grief.
The struggle, the strife, each day soon became
Reflections of yesterday marked harder to claim.
Your last words to me spoken, I'll forever hold dear
Your love unconditional, I knew never to fear
My father, my hero, my idol, my friend
Virtues abundant you proved to transcend.
Adorning the memories least to forget
A perpetual patience, which nothing could threat
Endeared as the man who could fix anything
You delighted in challenges all those would bring.
No matter the task, no one could deny
You succeeded in whatever you set out to try.
From rebuilding my car engine, in hours to spare
Or constructing our home, you designed round and not square.
As far back as remembered, most important my goal
Your eyes full of pride, for that I'd feel whole.
All I've become and all I hold true,
Which, makes up my best is owed all to you.
Gone is your shoulder, which held many my tears
Now how to fathom life, forward in years?
My father, my hero, my idol, my friend
I know one day time we will again spend.
I love you Daddy Your Daughter, Maria
