Dear Son

Dear Son,

As you age the sun will set upon you each day
You will wake each morning encased by the blanket that kept you warm through the dark night
Where owls sit perched upon a branch in the forest near by shutting there eyes in the moment you open yours
Your existence travels through the lighted hours and I ask of you to take a moment and enjoy the sweet smells of the blooming spring flowers
Hear the sounds of the playful children in the park
Laugh at the quirkiness of the stranger across the way
Cry with the tenderness emotions you feel when you experience your first heartache
Hold out your hand and feel the skin of another's palm as you lift them up
Take in the moments in life and allow yourself to feel, taste, smell and wonder
Allow yourself to live
