Dear You

By S. Cruz

Dear you,
You're the reason I'm here,
But for some apparent reason, you don't want to come near
You’ve taught me something beautiful, something about life
Life doesn't mean you keep those you love by your side

Dear you,
It's been 12 years, I never see you around,
The plea of your presence is no longer profound
You’ve taught me something else, something about people
Just because you're theirs doesn't mean they stay to see the sequel

Dear you,
I have something else to say,
I beg that you hear it, but I know there’s no such day
The day you come back, when you’ve finally found your way
I’ll tell you how much I still love you, even if our relationship is frayed

Dear you,
Here’s the last thing I have to say
I pay you high tribute, you’ve made me who I am today
You’ve taught me something valuable, even more than the ones before
You’ve taught me not to count my blessings, because one day, there will be no more
