Dear younger self
Dear Younger Me,
I’m sorry for the wounds I’ve left behind,
For the scars that time and pain combined.
I know I failed to shield you from the storm,
From the darkness where addiction took form.
I apologize for the nights you cried alone,
For the silent battles, the pain unknown.
For the hurt you carried deep inside,
While I sought escape where hope had died.
Meth and fentanyl, cruel and cold,
Took pieces of your spirit, made you fold.
I’m sorry for the chaos, the broken trust,
For every moment that turned to dust.
Your mind, a battlefield you fought so hard,
With shadows lurking and scars unmarred.
I wish I’d been stronger, more aware,
To hold you safe, to show I care.
Please know I never meant to betray,
Or let addiction lead you astray.
I’m here now, learning, trying to mend,
Hoping someday, you’ll forgive and transcend.
You are resilient, despite the pain,
A warrior fighting through the rain.
I promise to honor your worth, your grace,
And carry your strength in this healing space.
