Death

Is anyone ever really ready to die?
Maybe so, but no one takes into consideration that we who love them
Aren't ready to see them go
It's selfish but we are selfish creatures
We are never ready to watch someone we love die
If you have never seen it, I hope you never do
It tears a little piece of your heart right out of your chest
Watching your loved one gasp for breath
And every time they do thinking it's the last one
Then they do stop breathing and you hold your breath
Waiting
Waiting to watch the rise and fall of their chest
But it never comes and you realize that person is gone
And you want so bad to see them open their eyes
But they don't
Still, cold, and silence is all you get
