Death by Flowers

Pungent and overwhelming
The smell of death takes over
The flowers too sweet and the mood too somber
Trying to choke back tears is hard enough
However, the fragrance makes it intolerable
It's not the aromatic fresh smell of being in a lovely garden,
Instead I'm trapped in an enclosed space
With the sickeningly perfumed odor permeating my nasal passages
Leaving is impossible; I am stuck
Even worse, if I don't leave,
I will die for good
My nostrils can't bear the pungent stench any longer
I am being overpowered
I am drowning in this bitter scent
