Death Defy

He was as beautiful as he was haunting
His eyes were the black night
Skin pale, as if it had never met the sun
He smiled, it was as if that smile would cause him to shatter
I knew who he was
Why he was here
I had no qualms
I was young, but not saddened
He held out his hand
long, delicate fingers
and we left
into the cold cold stars
