Death’s Door

What madness to behold, this dreamscape I am waking...
The elusive sound of silence that I'm left contemplating...
As I take in the comfort of this chaotic displacement...
I finally realize the sensations that have been so evasive...
How curious this feeling of having been here before...
How ominous this atmosphere that holds to death's door...
Am I merely dreaming or is this the real thing?
Is this really all that the end has to bring?
How casually this frigid domain does embrace me,
Welcoming me into ancient arms that seek to erase me...
Am I so fragile and demure in my final hour?
Am I nothing more than this crippling coward?
Can I not stand up to this raging desire?
Can I walk willingly into this fire?
