His embrace quelled the trembling but her face
couldn't hide the fear.
Eyes close tightly before him, hiding unshed tears.

So good to feel a gentle touch it was not something that she knew.
Harsh words and a heavy hand was what he put her through.

Her heart afraid to trust again, it has been so very long.
Easy to live a lonely life, harder to be strong.

Can she take a chance?
Should she let him in?
How could she hide the secrets?
Where would she begin?

His soft voice was the answer, his gentle kiss the relief.
She surrenders to the love she feels and ends the years of grief.

Her arms close around him, eyes open wide.
She lets him see the love.
It was easy to decide.
