Degas Is Not Defunct

Degas is not defunct;
h drew women warm, graceful and wide,
following each patterned stride,
measuring each footed plunk.

Modern women, naysayers they,
claim such women round in paint
could not be lifted by a saint!
Our divas now shiver while his, cozy, play.

Amusing most about this claim
is modern women sainted
will mirror weight painted, yet
in self-denial will disdain.
