Degraded

Battered and bruised, but not dead yet.
Bent a little too far, but I'm not broken.
Despite this torture, on victory is where I have my eyes set.
Determination and concentration are freedom's token.

Petrified.
We've done nothing to deserve this.
Can you see the tears I cry?
Safety is what I most miss.

Can anyone hear me when I scream?
Your leader is not the man he seems.

Persecuted.
Shamed for what we believe.
For us, no one ever rooted.
Believe me, there's nothing we want more than to leave.

Gagged and tied, but we're still fighting
Shoot us down, everything's on the line.
On the stake, we're what they're lighting.
I may never get back what was once mine.

All we want is to live again,
Please, we need to be free men.
