somber valedictions end in clandestine soirées
promises into manacles, facades turn to barriers
abdication is unheard of, momentarily amused by the spectacle
with ease, she sashays, prophesizing our conquerer
down the drain or out the back door
shoved under a mattress, mocked by a sinuous chronograph
heinously, she purrs in the orifice of her victim
forgiving or forgetting is the admission of a defeater
ruthless and reckless for she has no one to fear
yet understatedly beautiful, her presence tender
timelessly, we act as if our demise were up to anything but her
