Denial

Anxiety swelled inside my chest,
and tears of confusion ran down the sides of my face,
My oscillating emotions rise and fall,
between my wails of pure hysteria and tears of silence,
It is not possible for me to even utter the word
that has blasted my world into tiny, unrecognizable pieces.
I refuse to believe that his soul has escaped existence.
There has been a mistake.
My heart is trying to escape my chest to look for your heart;
to give it the piece that you're are missing.
My body betrays my mind and crumples until I can be no smaller,
then darkness consumes my vision
and I float into a sleep that is closer to death than life.
