Denying Acceptance

My heart of hearts, my soul of souls
Just pick up pieces, fill in holes
If drowning sadness we deny
No shallow grave in, will we lie

My living lover who has died
All the king's soldiers tried and tried
But still we stand deep in this wake
Our sanity this life did take

A shell of teardrops I've become
No joyful tune do blue birds hum
Can end this sleep caused by life's sin
Now we accept it, as blood thins

We lie and say we'll remain friends
Which brings us closer to the end
Where we must leave as two apart
My soul of souls, my heart of hearts
