you pretended you didn´t want a hug
after our eyes had met in the hallway
you rose your right elbow towards me
for the new kind of hand-shake
we both knew we could beat a deadly virus
but there was no way we would ever
survive the lack of love

so you hugged me tight
as if you knew what would
happen within seven months
curiously i can´t remember
what you said before leaving
but my heart melt out of gratitude because of it

it´s weird that this is the last
memory i´ll ever have of you
and it´s even weirder knowing
that we didn´t have to say goodbye back then
but that we did it anyway
