Depression

Told me day one
You were broken
Yet we act like your issues
Lie solely at my feet
As if I have control of
A predisposed fate
Lying in wait
Deep inside your head
When our worlds start crumbling
Down
Falling all around
Pieces we worked hard to build
Lying strewn, forgotten in the dirt
I too wanted to escape Inside
Wanted to run
Far and wide
But this was my fate
So I stayed and prayed
On a better day
One where together, we
Could light up the sun
Hand in hand, shared electricity
Lighting the caves inside your head
But baby, it's so hard to do
And truly its' just you
To fight that natural grin
So a fire between
That welded together, back when
Now burns all to ash instead
