Descent

A city of broken dreams
Like miles of shattered glass
Fan out before me
A harsh reminder of my past
There is no place for rue
Within my fallen soul
Remorse shall find no place to rest
For my heart is as black as coal
Bitterness and anger
Are all that they now know
The last vestiges of morality
Fade like a melting snow
I've fallen into the deepest pits
Where no man dares to venture
For once he's here, he cannot leave
Ensnared by the darkness to whom he's indentured.
