Desert Moon

Greetings Earth, tell The Sun the moon saids hello!
We have not spoken in awhile you know..

When he is up, I am down and when I’m above he’s below.
My thoughts race and I feel there’s nowhere left to go.

I do my best to be seen but sometimes my light gets dim
and only half of what it could be.

Truth be told, The Sun is where I get all of my shine
But is it really selfish to want a beautiful glow
that’s just mine?

Still, I wait for him each day sitting, waiting,
And fading away.

Just as my gleam is almost gone, Mr. Sun shows up
the night sky turns dawn.
I beg him to stay but it can never be
He is much too bright and it’s getting too late for me.
