Desperate

She watched intently,
Seeing everyone pointing fingers every which way.
She listened awestruck,
Hearing those around her snicker.
She sniffed the air,
Only to smell desperation --but only on herself.
She reached out,
Feeling someone pushing her into a pit.
She licked her lips,
Tasting blood and dirt all over her mouth.

She stood up,
Looking around with tear-stained eyes.
She ran away,
Knowing that no one was coming to her rescue.
She found a knife,
Cutting herself --the only way to get out of Hell.
Her face pailed,
The life slowly draining out of her limp body.
Her blood thickened,
Knowing that this would soon be all over.
Her life was lost,
Now no one can hurt her any longer.
