Didon

Oh beautiful sovereign
of great Carthage,
the night I left you
sky fell on you.
I broke you,
I'm aware of this,
making carnival confetti out of your heart.
But looking into your eyes
emptied of life
I still can't see you
as someone different
from last summer,
spent on the shore
stealing kisses
that never belonged
to our lips.
