Diet Cocaine

green eyes
light up,
wired.
White shocks of electricity shoot up the walls,
make her sweat, twitch, grin 1,000 watts
vacancy signs hanging in the windows
beg to passersby
she looks away,
faces forward,
and throws the dimmer-switch
we are walking side by side,
falling in step with the crowd,
our leather boots beating the ground,
making the air swirl with powder
I blink and she's gone-
nothing but air.
"Where did Emily go?"I say to no one in particular
she seems to have disappeared.
