Disillusionment

Does anyone notice

The tiny particles of dust

That aimlessly float through the air,

Only seen when the sun shines

Just so?
It almost looks like snow,

Snow indoors, what a chimera!

But for just a moment

I can indulge in my foolish dreams

And pretend my life is

A little less sad.

I forget the loneliness

For just a moment.
Yet slowly they land,
the sun decides to shine on something else,

And I come back to reality.

I realize it isn’t snow
It’s dust,

And if I breathe it in

It will fill up my lungs

And make me cough.
