Do You Remember

I remember the day Challenger died,
One grand explosion and America cried.
One young teacher took that fateful ride,
Because true learning never err'd on the cautious side.
I remember the day Oklahoma shook with fear
Because we all thought it would never happen here.
Young lives lost, an eternal waste,
McVeigh's horrible choice left in our hearts an empty space.
I remember the day the tornado came
That one May 3rd changed the game
A new definition of destruction was born that day
Trying to keep mine own eye's tears at bay.
I remember the day our nation was attacked
That September morning evil stabbed us in the back.
We watched the devastation not knowing what to do,
Then watched in horror as the plane crashed into tower two.
I remember the day our second shuttle failed
On their way home, piercing the cloudy vail
Over a stretch of Texas plains
Was where they found those heroes' remains
