Dolly

By OldPoet

No one kept me clean
I had no pretty dresses
My toys were twigs
and sticks and rocks
for play pretend
One day there was
a dolly lying in the street
She was just as dirty
and ragged as I
Mommy grabbed her away
told me I was too awful
to deserve a dolly,
threw her into the trash bin
When Mommy's whiskey
made her go to sleep,
I dug through the bin
and took her out,
hugging her close to me
I hid the dolly in the woods
so no one could take her
away from me
Every day I would sneak
off to the woods and tell
dolly all my secrets

This Poems Story

This is a little bit fiction, a little bit the story of my childhood.
