Don't Ask Me Why

The family, the friends
have left
But the flowers promise to stay
For a daily kiss from a butterfly

The tea, the tears
have dried
But the rain drops by to visit
To offer a drink to a butterfly

The storm, the wind
has passed
But a breeze rocks the empty chair
A gentle caress from a butterfly

The memory, the candle
has lingered
To give light to a room at dusk
A warm embrace from a butterfly

The silence, the meadow
has beckoned
So don't ask me why
I've gone to chase a butterfly
