Don’t Give Up!

Feeling lost and confused
Not knowing what to do
Wanting to quit, to walk away
But scared to make the wrong decision
Life is getting tougher
You start to look for an easy way out
Then you remember one thing
It's why you kept going:
Loving the battles you fight
The coaches, friends and family who encouraged you
Pushing yourself to the limit
When your muscles are like rocks
And you crave for more each and every day
Going above and beyond
Defying gravity
You're not done yet
Keep going

This Poems Story

I am a junior in high school and have been involved in gymnastics since I was very young. I am currently a USAG level 10 gymnast. Last year I wrote this poem for my English honors class after I had suffered a foot injury requiring two surgeries. It was a difficult time since I could not compete or fully participate for almost a whole year. Recovery was a very rough and painful experience, but now I am fully released and hoping to compete this season, so I can definitely say that I am glad that I did not give up!
