The first time I saw you
It was as if you were an angel
But your wings were cut down
And you only felt pain and anger

Your clothes were dripping water
From the time you spent in the rain
I asked what was wrong and you said
That your dreams had gone down the drain

That your life had fallen apart
Because of one stupid choice
I asked what your name was
Your name, you said, was Joy.

“Ironic, isn’t it?”
You said half-heartedly
I didn’t answer back
You sighed dramatically

“Here’s a cup of tea, drink it while it’s hot”
I felt bad for you, so I offered you a drink
I passed you down the cup.
You smiled softly and thanked me
And that was the last time
I saw you, except in my dreams
