Dreaming

Feeling the rise and fall of my lover breathing,
Tell me, what is she dreaming, my angel sleeping?
Of endless days and countless kisses
Of hands ever reaching,
Fingers touching, forever tracing
Eyes beholding all they can possibly see
Ears intently listening for just one more whimper, one more moan
And lips parting again and again, tasting forever her sweet nectar
Is this the dream my lover dreams?
Of days filled with sun and splendor
Of moonlit nights with fragrant candles
Mornings which lie between the two
And the first touch of lover's dew
Music that etches each note on memory's blank page
And delicate breeze caressing skin, arousing, anticipating
Sounds of summer that kiss the air
Stars that laugh in the deepest darkest blue of midnight skies
Are these the scenes which fill my lover's dreams?
I cannot know and may not tell the story here
But with every passing night and day as more of her unfolds
I sojourn the place where dreams and lovers embrace
I leave behind all semblance of time
And slip into that wonderland
Lost in scenes of lover's dreams
Oh, please don't wake me,
Please, please, just let me dream.
