Drift

It sucks to see someone
Drift away
Become close to others
Start to morph into things they're not

But when times get tough
They need a friend
I rush to her aid
Like a moth to a flame
Make all their problems
Drift away

Then they're gone again
I start to get tired
Trying to pull them close
On an infinite rope
Fraying, weakened rope
I will have to let go
'Cause the other person is making no effort
To pull closer to me
