Drinking Fathers

Clarity becomes him as he takes another
long pull on his whiskey bottle

Black Velvet cures all ails, but can't
help him walk straight

He smiles that all-knowing smile when
he lights up another Marlboro and
cracks open a fresh can of Miller

He can tell you every facet of how the
Universe works when he's been drinking

It's 23,000 miles from the Earth to the
Moon.

It's further still from your midnight
humility to your early-morning
hangover cure.
