Dropped Camera Playback

Sidewalk, sideways,
paved ground right, morning sky left,
left behind-recording in progress.

Stiletto (first-day professional),
skinny straps, clack slap,
concrete crack eats heel, stumble off to work.
Brick edges crumble red,
stretch to sky; terra cotta, cracked side, green rot,
no plants, rainbow of chewed gum
floating in old rain.

Sun peaks in the sky-
orthopedic sneakers (white),
dress shoes (polished),
bruised flip flops,
combat boots (laced halfway),
worn-down soles, lonely.

Streetlights switch, whine,
flicker while sun still lingers.
Broken high heels return,
stiletto clack slap (avoid the crack),
pink blisters, raw,
in motion, then gone.
