Earning an Education

If to learn is to change, I've been educated
Like Kerouac, Krakauer, and the sages of the open road

I want to have earned my right to teach
As I spend all my time learning

That the onslaught of change
Unannounced and uninvited, will continue

Hurtling down the gravel drive
Like a rusty junkyard runaway

I finally found that churches and trains
Are both means of transportation

To transcend the physical into the spiritual
Is the business of poets

To fixate on the conduction itself
Is the bent of humanity

The struggle between the two, eternal
And that's why all poems should end with ellipses...
