Elegy to Color
Today I cried till my eyes turned blue
And sang till my lungs went red.
I stared out a window at forest hues
Chasing lavender skies as they bled.
My fingers were thawed by a tangerine bloom
Leaving traces of blush in their wake.
And the jaundice sun caught a glimpse of the moon
Eager pride in the earth it would take.
Now I lay here in bed taking stock of the room
Recollecting my thoughts of the day.
Here I sit beneath lead and I ponder a thought;
Why must everything happen in grey?
