emma

it's been seven years
since i watched your mom
drive you away
in the white truck
with "U-HAUL"
printed on the side.
seven years
since you pressed
the silver necklace,
since faded into a rusty pink,
into the soft palm
of my seven year old hand.
seven years
since i whispered
three words
for the first time ever
into your blonde hair.
seven years
since i saw your eyes,
a watery blue,
crinkle as you laughed
at a joke
i can't remember now.
seven years
since you.
