Energy

There is a flame inside of me.
This flame has spent its lifetime
Bathing in waters of compassion,
Swimming through oceans of patience,
Floating through tributaries of solitude.
This flame, many a time, has been attacked
By cyclones of verbal debris,
Swept away by tsunamis of indifference,
Spun mercilessly by hurricanes of fear,
And shunned via floods of incommensurable pain.
There were moments when this flame
Shed tears and broke down.
Yet, it continued to dance in nature's lap
With every bit of its childhood passion
Because the Lord's love grew to be its fuel-
An endless realm of fire that consumes
The last of its worries
And averted its demise.

Such is the reason why true living
Stems not from the seas that try to extinguish
Our inner fires,
But from our ability to make those very seas
Our sources of
Spiritual energy.
