Enlightening the World

A gift from France to America
To symbolize their friendship.
Now she's a symbol of freedom
For all the world to see.
She stands on her granite ground,
Shadowing her island below.
Her presence was resisted,
Now we would have it no other way.
She is strong and independent,
Just like her home,
The USA.
She was born in France,
But she is more American
Than anyone we'll ever meet.
When people come to this land,
For a better life,
They see her.
They see her as a friend,
Leading them to freedom,
Leading them to a better life.
She leads them to our home.
Her torch lights the way.
On her tablet is written the day of freedom.
She is what makes America.
She is our symbol of freedom.
She is the Statue of Liberty enlightening the world.
