Enlisted in His army

In a marvelous darkness His glory shines
As we walk, we’re new creatures leaving our past behind
I raise the flag to declare war on the saints
The enemy’s forces move right into place
We fight the battle, the “good fight of faith”
They charge and throw darts right in front of my face
Moments of fear, despair, anger, and hopelessness abide
My sword is wielded and cuts through causing my heart to revive
As we stand, the mud grows slippery and thick from the numerous droplets of rain hitting it quick
I wade through the mire as high as my knees but am still able to stand because of the Gospel of peace
Though my heart may grow heavy, I still will endure
Being bound in truth that couldn’t be truer
The adversary struggles to delude my mind
But I plead the blood by salvation and I find
That this very blood spilled for me at the Cross of Calvary
Paid the price and took the blame and He became the sin that I once claimed
Now Jesus heals me making me the righteousness of God to wear it, to show it representing Him further on
Now “who can stand against” when my God is on the hill
Where from comes my help even before I knew His will
I shall run and not be weary; I shall walk and not faint
Trudging my shield along, my faith will never taint
So as we walk this life we shall walk as citizens of Heaven, ambassadors in chains, the salt of the earth, and the King’s leaven
For I am not ashamed of the Gospel and death will not alarm me
For I am of Jehovah’s anointed and have been enlisted in His army
