ESCAPE FROM THE CITY

ESCAPE FROM THE CITY

In mid-sky the sun rests brilliantly, the air grasping echoes
Of a lone dogs’ bark.
Soft feathered shining swans slide upon the clear water
In the quiet of the park.

Pure field-flavored breezes flow through open windows
Across a napping child
Turning to fill the old oak table in the kitchen
Where fresh garden vegetables are piled.

A lone car glides slowly in front of a dusty gravel cloud
As the wind rustles quietly in the corn.
At dusk, rainbows of flowers close their soft shaped petals
Waiting patiently for a new morn.

Unlocked painted wooden doors welcomed stranded strangers
With warm bread and a coffee filled cup.
Soon stranger now friend leaves with a handshake, a smile and a wave…..
Time for escape from the city is up.
