Escape

I step upon a cracked stone,
Along a crooked path.
I can only look forward.
I'll never turn back.
I've left it all behind now.
I'm finally free.
I've left it all behind.
I can finally be me.
I'll soar over the seven seas.
I'll tumble through the sky.
And once you look into my eyes,
You'll never ask me why.
You'll see a soul that's broken,
An empty shell of me.
But I've left it all behind now,
That was what I used to be.
I'm only looking forward.
I'll take it one step at a time,
Because now I have a new life,
And it can finally be mine.

This Poems Story

Kayla Randolph was born and raised in southern New England and is currently a sophomore in high school. She has been interested in writing since a young age, but has recently been dedicating more of her time to poetry. "A certain word, phrase, or image that I just can't get out of my head can inspire me. Sometimes you don't know what you're going to write about when you sit down, and then the words just start coming and they don't stop. I like poems that tell a story, and hopefully you enjoyed this one."
